If you have recently upgraded to Microsoft Dynamics SL 7.0 of above and have issues with some of your legacy custom reports you may want to take a look at Microsoft Dynamics Article ID: 942096.  The article can be accessed via Microsoft Dynamics Customer Source Knowledge Base.

The article describes steps that must be taken to update certain reports so that they are compatible with the Quick Send feature introduced in Microsoft Dynamics SL 7.0.  Below is the error message you will encounter and a listing of reports impacted.

“Crystal Report Engine Error 723 – Failed to open a rowset” error when you try to print certain reports in Microsoft Dynamics SL

This error occurs when you try to print one of the following reports:

  • Invoice and Memo Forms (08.760.00)
  • Service Call Invoice (SD.640.00)
  • Service Contract Invoice (SN.650.00)

Add the appropriate table from the list below based on the report encountering the error.  Add the INNbr field from the appropriate Queue table to the detail section of your Crystal Report.  Change the Field Format of the INNbr field to make it invisible.
