Dynamics SL 2011 or 2015 – Upgrade Options
We have had multiple customers ask recently if they should upgrade to SL 2011 or SL 2015. This is a good questions and there are multiple considerations when making this decision. The following is a summary of requirements along with links to more detailed information to help in the decision making process.

Summary of Requirements
Microsoft Dynamics SL 2011
- Servers: Windows Server 2008 SP2, Windows Server 2012 R2 or Windows Server 2012
- Databases: SQL Server 2008 SP2, SQL Server 2008 R2, SQL Server 2012 SP1 or SQL Server 2014
- Optional FRx or MR (Management Reporter) for financial reporting
- Windows 7, Windows 8 and Widows 10 clients with FP1 (Updated 9/8/2015 – see updated system requirements for details)
- Web Apps: Currently available with no future releases planned
- Mainstream support ends 7/12/2016 – http://support.microsoft.com/lifecycle/?p1=15800
- Extended support ends 7/13/2021
- Year End Update Availability
Microsoft Dynamics SL 2015:
- Servers: Windows Server 2008 R2 or Windows Server 2012 R2
- Databases: SQL Server 2012 SP1 or SP2 (with CU2) or 2014 SP2 (with CU1/CU2)
- Microsoft Office 2016 (with CU2)
- SharePoint 2016 (with CU2)
- Requires MR (Management Reporter) for financial reporting
- Windows 7, Windows 8 and Widows 10 clients (Updated 9/8/2015 – see updated system requirements for details)
- Web Apps: Currently available with future releases planned
- Web Apps December Release (with CU2)
