Recently I upgraded a customer from Microsoft Dynamics SL 6.5 to 7.0 FP1/SP4. The customer had cosmetic customizations to several screens including the Order Management Sales Order Entry screen. I exported the customizations from SL 6.5 and imported them into SL 7.0 FP1/SP4. All of the customizations were fine with the exception of the Sales Order Entry screen.
Two fields that had been modified were displaying with an exceptionally long width (Inventory Id and Description). At the ALL USERS level I entered customization mode and viewed the properties of the field width. Both fields were set at 224 which is a very reasonable length. Still the fields displayed at a much larger length.
I opened the CST file containing the customization I had exported from SL 6.5 and found the field width listed at 1860. I manually modified the width in the CST file and re-imported the customization. The fields now displayed correctly. AS a side note I used the DOS Edit feature to modify the CST file to insure that the file did not become corrupt. Editing CST files using Notepad can make the customization unusable.
